INTERNATIONAL TRADE CERTIFICATES / EXPORT DOCUMENTS

The NMTA has the authority as a 501c6 trade organization to issue export documentation for companies. Export documentation such as Certificates of Free Sale and Certificate of Origin may be requested by a prospective international buyer. Our experienced trade staff can provide companies with the necessary certifications to finalize an order.

Note: We issue certificates only to companies whose commercial activity is developed within the State of New Mexico.

Certificate of Free Sale

The Certificate of Free Sale (CFS) is a document required by most of host countries at the moment of the import process for all goods. This document states that the manufactured products are freely and legally distributed or sold within the United States, without restriction, and approved by the regulatory authorities.

Note: For products that are under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), we cannot issue a Certificate of Free Sale. It is necessary that you contact the FDA directly so they can issue the required certificate.

Certificate of Origin

The Certificate of Origin (CO) is required by some countries for all or only certain products. A Certificate of Origin is an important international trade document that certifies that goods in a particular export shipment are wholly obtained, produced, manufactured or processed in a particular country. The exporter should verify whether a CO is required with the buyer and/or an experienced shipper/freight forwarder. A Certificate of Origin may be required from the exporter when exporting to countries with which the U.S. has:

  • United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)

  • Other Free Trade Agreements (FTA)

Other Specialized Certificates

Some countries might request U.S. companies to provide other specialized certificates that were not mentioned above. If you are in this situation, contact us and we will assess it on a case-by-case basis.
